I got this lens from the land of eBay...It was a really good deal because it looked pretty beat on the outside but the elements were in "B-" condition. Plus most of the beat up stuff would be internal to the lens board once mounted and unseen. The seller did a VERY poor job of packaging the lens. It had about the amount of protection as a paper envelope had. So when It arrived, before I even opened the box...I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. Somehow the lens, while it looked bad and would look really bad to somebody who doesn't do repairs weekly, I saw that it would be challenging but not out of the possibility of repair. The rear element housing was bashed in about 1/4" and there was a hairline fracture on the aluminum barrel housing. The retaining ring was dented in but the element was intact and undamaged. I know from working on a few of these lenses before that there is a fair amount of air gap between the rear retaining ring and the housing.
